Acting in the spirit of the Freedom of Information/Protection of Privacy legislation, the Fraser Valley Regional Library board recognizes the public's right to access organizational records, as well as recognizes its responsibility to ensure personal information about an individual is protected from unauthorized collection, use, or disclosure.
A record includes books, documents, maps, drawings, photographs, letters, vouchers, papers and any other thing on which information is recorded or stored by graphic, electronic, mechanical or other means, but does not include a computer program or any other mechanism that produces records. The FVRL File Classification Manual, including the Directory of Records, Personal Information Bank Directory and Directory of Manuals will be maintained at each branch and will be available to the public.
Records identified as personal information banks are confidential and will be maintained and disposed of in accordance with procedures outlined in the PIB Directory.
All official requests for information through FOI/POP will be referred immediately to the Personnel Officer/Information and Privacy Coordinator. Fee Schedule attached.
