At FVRL, we don’t charge late fines for overdue items. We want to make borrowing as stress-free as possible! However, there are still some important things to know about fees for lost, damaged, or unreturned items.
What You’re Responsible For
- Items borrowed on your card, including any charges for lost, damaged, or unreturned items
- Reporting lost or stolen cards immediately. Any items borrowed before reporting will remain your responsibility
Fees You Should Know About
Replacement Fee
- Charged for lost, damaged, or unreturned items. Fees vary based on the item's cost
Processing Fee
- A $5 non-refundable fee applies to catalogued items unreturned after 44 days to cover replacement costs
Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) Fee
- A $25 fee applies to NSF cheques
Printing and Photocopying
- $0.15 per side for black-and-white printing
- $0.50 per side for colour printing
Unpaid Charges
You may lose borrowing privileges if your account exceeds these limits:
- Adult Card: $25
- Children’s Card: $10
- Business/Daycare/Institution Card: $25
To regain borrowing privileges, simply pay enough to bring your balance below these limits.
How to Pay
In Person
- Pay at any FVRL service desk
Online via Banking Website
- Search for "Fraser Valley Regional Library" in your bank's payee list
- Add Fraser Valley Regional Library to your payee list
- Use your 14-digit library card number as the account number
- Submit your payment
By Phone

Special Cases
Interlibrary Loans (ILL)
- While FVRL doesn’t charge late fines, materials borrowed through ILL may accrue charges set by the lending library
Long Overdue Accounts
- If unpaid charges remain unresolved, your account may be referred to a collection agency
Free Library Card Replacement
- Lost your library card? No problem! We’ll replace it for free — just let us know right away.
