Radon is an odorless, tasteless, naturally occurring radioactive gas produced by the breakdown of uranium in the ground (rock, soil, water). It is present in every building in Canada.
Prolonged exposure to high radon concentrations can have serious health consequences. According to the Government of Canada, radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking.
By offering Radon Detectors, FVRL aims to empower individuals to test their homes, understand radon levels, and make informed decisions to safeguard their health. FVRL kits are a starting place to explore radon.
